Colonial house plans are for the most part simple in design but stately in its being. It is usually two rooms deep and square or box in shape with a center fireplace or having the fireplace on the end wall. Colonial house plans can be one or two story and in some cases incorporate one story wings on the left and right of the two story example. This is one of the oldest if not the oldest style of architecture in America, dating back to the early 1600's. Several sub-styles under the colonial house style includes Dutch, French colonial, Spanish colonial, Georgian, Adam (Federal), and Early Classical Revival. |
